Colours and fonts

Colours and fonts are set at three levels in BrainStorm: Preferences, Model and Entry.

Preferences sets the default colour and font for all BrainStorm work until the preferences are changed. These values are stored as BrainStorm preferences and do not form part of a BrainStorm model file. They are, in effect, the user's current personal preferences. Beware of choosing white on blue because this coincides with Windows' default highlighting colours and therefore when you select text, your selection will not contrast.

Unless a model colour is set (see below) a model will be transparent and will display according to the Preferences. You may also set separate Printer and Aerial view fonts in Preferences.

Model colour gives the currently active model a colour scheme. This information is stored with the model file. All transparent entries (ie those without their own explicit colour) will show in the model colour scheme.

Entry colour gives an entry its own colour scheme which is stored with the entry in the model file.

Pressing the 'Revert' button in the font dialogue box takes you through your available defaults and overrides. For an entry these would be: Entry, Transparent, Preference.

Please note: unless set to 'Black on white' in the Preferences/Print settings dialogue, the printer will attempt to use the model colours. You can waste a lot of ink or toner if you are using a monochrome printer and make use of dark backgrounds in your BrainStorm model.
